A recent set of three independent experiments have closed the loopholes left by earlier tests of Bell's theorem. In 1964 John Bell proposed that no local hidden variables could reproduce the full effects of quantum mechanics and that this could be proved if two systems were entangled and then separated by a great enough distance.
