Nordlandshest/Lyngshest - Nordlandshest/Lyngshest also known as the "Northlands horse" or "Northlands pony", is the smallest of the three Norwegian national horse breeds. Translated to English, the name could be interpreted to be "horse from Nordland/Lyngen"
The Nordlandshest/Lyngshest was a working horse, used for all kinds of work needed on the small farms of Northern Norway. These horses were rarely kept indoors in stables and had to find their own food.

Nordlandshest or Lyngshest is from northern Norway, a smallish pony that most probably has common ancestors with Icelandics, Fjords and Faeroese Ponies so it's a very old breed. It was used as an all-round work pony on the small Norwegian farms. It's been very rare few decades ago, on the brink of extinction but nowadays there are about 3000 individuals in Norway.
