I badly wanted a 5 speed bicycle for my birthday. My parents gave me a two speed Schwinn American instead. I showed my bitter disappointment by not riding it that day. Many years later I dragged the old bike from the barn and pedaled along the hilly, gravel road. I backed the pedal into high gear and felt the summer breeze against my face. My eyes filled with tears of gratitude for my parents who had sacrificed so that I could ride this bike. As I returned home I finally said, "Thank you."
We had a great build off again this year and as always there was quite a variety of bikes entered into the final voting. Everything from choppers, stretches, muscle bikes and even an electric powered cruiser that made everyone take a second.
