The pattern is based on the original Skjoldehamn hood, an archaeological find at Skjoldehamn (Skjold harbour) on the Norwegian island of Andøya, dated from between 995 to 1029 CE. This hood is made of a cream wool, and is entirely hand-sewn with a matching wool thread. I have included decorative stitching around the edges, as well as contrasting embroidery on the front panel in deep red/burgundy wool thread.

So this is the viking depiction I announed a while back. Again, I sewed everything myself. Hood, inner tunic, outer tunic and trousers are based on the Skjoldehamn finds with some modifications.

I am not sure how authentic this pattern is, but it might make a basis for a sling for my horn as well as a pattern for a hood
