MS Pilsudski built by CDRA Yard at Monfalcone, Italy for PTTO(became Gdynia-America Line), Poland & launched 12/34. 14,294GWT, Length 531ft & Beam 71ft. Diesel engines drove twin screws to give 18kn. In WW II she was to be converted to an Armed Merchant Cruiser but instead was converted to a Troop Transport. On her first wartime voyage on 26/11/39 sailing out of Newcastle, she struck a mine or was torpedoed.Abandonrd by her crew she sank off the Humber. Painting by Grzegorz Nawrocki.,
