COMMODE "A FLEURS",  so-called "marqueterie au jasmin", Louis XIV/Régence, from a Parisian master workshop, ca. 1720/30.  Ebony, rosewood, maple, amaranth, sycamore and cherry, exquisitely inlaid with flower bouquets, sphinxes, mythological creatures, leaves, scrolls, cartouches and decorative frieze. Front slightly "en arbalète" with 3 drawers, the top drawer divided in two. Gilt bronze mounts, drop handles and sabots, in part not original.

Louis XV style walnut and Vernis Martin dressing table   late 19th century   In two parts: the superstructure with a central shaped mirror enclosed in a shell carved frame with a double scroll pediment, flanked by smaller mirrors over shelves; the base with a shaped Breche marble top above three short frieze drawers and a pair of Vernis Martin doors flanked by plain carved doors, raised on cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes.

A Marquetry Commode attributed to Pierre Langlois was of French Hunguenot Extraction he extraordinarily successful, working for some of the most distinguished patrons in the country. Examples of his work may still be seen in several great country houses, as well as at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. The quality and elaboration of this commode declares a client with no cause to spare expense. English, Circa 1765-70
