I enjoyed reliving some of the research from my dissertation. I was surprised Montillo only barely mentioned the drama over Shelley's heart. It seemed quite relevant to me. Her characterization of Leigh Hunt, as well as a few other points, left something to be desired. Overall, a good read though. And points for the cover being glow-in-the-dark.
This is a highly interesting book if you are interested in the subject matter (which I am). It's not written in the style of Bill Bryson though. So, it's a bit dry. Excellent source if you need to know that Scottish women used to wash their clothes with their feet or that British women used to clean their fireplaces because they worried spirits would come in during stormy weather, see the fireplace untidy, and tell the other ghosts.
