Three looks in John Galliano’s Fall 2005 Haute Couture collection for Dior were created in homage to Degas’s dancers. Here, a model wears a golden confection with embroidery inspired by Peruvian costume.

1840 Dinner Dress via The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.--cinnamon seems to have been a popular color in California, and the ruffled skirt is seen in paintings of Californio day dresses. Most of the trading ships came from Boston.

Middle bustle Dress: During the middle of the bustle era the weight in the dress moves down to below the knees and the silhouette becomes very form fitting. It also typically has dark colors and trains start to come back again because of all of the weight.

During the Middle Bustle Era, the weight of the dress moves down the body. The silhouette of the dress becomes much more form fitting and may include a long train. These dresses were typically in darker colors.
