Each year, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur program offers non-renewable scholarships that recognize young people who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative with college scholarship, ranging in value from $1,000 to $15,000. Ilan Regenbaum scored a Young Entrepreneur distinction in 2009 for Flash Foto Events, a photography studio in Atlanta. He went on to launch Discount Optical in New York City (the name recently changed to Optik). The company started selling prescription eyewear in Israel earlier this year, and Regenbaum plans a global expansion.
