Passive cooling
In the humid tropics it is important to ensure that air flows into a room at a level that suits its function. Louvres can be used to deflect air flow upwards or downwards. A canopy over a window tends to direct air flow upwards whereas a gap between the canopy and the wall ensures a downwards pressure, which is further improved in the case of a louvred sunshade.
