The golden anchor is from the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) the world’s first nuclear aircraft carrier that was retired from service in 2012. The Enterprise will be officially decommisioned in 2016. One of her (Enterprise) anchor’s is still serving the fleet and is now aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) pictured above, when after one of Lincoln’s 60,000lb anchors was determined to be unfit for continued service.
