Elongated terracotta oil lamp of the nude winged Lilith, the powerful dark-mother Goddess. In her hands, the rod and ring of Sumerian royal authority; on her head, a stepped crown or turban. In excellent condition with a simple border trim and traces of carbon residue about the wick hole.

A BYZANTINE BRONZE LAMP ON STAND - CIRCA 5TH-6TH CENTURY A.D. -- The lamp on flaring base, with octagonal nozzle, the handle of double-rod form, rising from leaf-shaped sprig on the body, curling round in a volute shape, the two tendrils joining together in the middle with a cross-shaped terminal, the base with a square socket to accommodate the pricket, the stand supported by three feet 9 in. (22.8 cm.) high
