The Jennie Wade House in Gettysburg, PA. Built in 1842, this home was witness to the Battle of Gettysburg. Mary Virginia Wade, better known as Jennie Wade, was the only civilian killed during the battle on July 3, 1863 while baking bread for Union soldiers. She was instantly killed by a single bullet that traveled through 2 wooden doors. The house was the residence of her sister, Georgia McClellan, who had given birth on July 1.
