Photo Ledges O Fun
We have changed the wall leading up to our staircase quite a bit. Probably more than any other place in our home, actually. Most recently, and the one that has stuck the longest was a

kitchen before and after — Montana Prairie Tales
I can't believe we are nearing a year in our new kitchen. We love it as much as ever, of course. Last time I posted about it we still had a pretty large list of projects to check off: trim work and painting, installing the open shelves, buying and installing a pantry cabinet, buying and installing a
How To Keep From Falling Down A Staircase
The alternate title for this post could have been 'Building Another Bookcase', but where's the fun in that? Let's start with the finished product and get it out of the way. When we first added the second floor, I was totally all about a long row of pretty, white pickets and a monstrously beautiful newel post at the top of the stairs. But then a couple things popped into my brains: 1. I have a pretty good fear of heights and I just didn't like seeing the drop all the way down to the first…
Horizontal paneling or planks seem to be all the rage in design these day. The look add architectural interest and works well in both traditional and contemporary spaces. The bookcases in our great room are really a focal point of the room so I wanted give them some more texture. I had previously painted the backs of them in SW Urbane Bronze which was fine but probably not the right choice for my more traditional style choices. Look! Glass Jars for Laundry Supplies
Sad as it may seem, it is our dream to have a laundry room in our home. Right now we count ourselves among the denizens of the laundromat, but if one day we do have a dedicated room for laundry, it never occurred to us to store detergent as we would dry goods in the kitchen. We like the look, as well as the convenience for using bulk soap.Besides soap, we’re not sure what else there is to store in the other jars.

**Explored Apr 25, 2010 #440 You all know I've been trimming down our dvd library. Just when you thought I was done, no I wasn't. I really loved how all the dvds fit in the open baskets on the bottom but wasn't in love with the way they were exposed. So, I sold the baskets and got me similar ones from crate and barrel again but this time with the lids. The lids are hinged so they are easy to open and hide all our dvds. Again, one of my rules for organizing is that to keep everything in one…
