Happy Friday everyone, any big plans for the weekend? We're going to be bike riding, house hunting, and BBQing with friends. I'm beyond excited for a nice, chill weekend. If you need something to do with the littles this weekend, I highly suggest this apple print activity I put together over on eHow's mom channel. There's a reason this one is a classic, kids absolutely love painting with produce. And if you need something to read, check out what we've been discussing over on Sulia this week…

A monotype produces a completely unique print with a process that is unpredictable, expressive, painterly and totally unlike any other creative process. There are all kinds of tools and supplies for monotypes (acrylic printing plates, the Gelli plate, etc) but really any slick surface will work- even something…

cardboard LOVE

I have a secret. A very small secret. But a secret that's taking up quite a bit of room in the storeroom. I have a wee bit of a thing for... Mister Clock from the incredible Atelier Pour Enfants { cardboard } There. I've said it! Phew. It all started a couple of years back, when we moved out of the CBD. I scoured high and low for boxes. But, I was very particular. I did not want just any old cardboard box. Quirky creatures by Steen Drabik I chose brightly coloured fruit boxes. Packing boxes…

Little ones can be very messy with their painting, but we should encourage and embrace it as part of the learning process! Lay masking tape on some canvases, and let your toddler go to town with colorful paint. When you strip off the tape, you'll have a lasting piece of art celebrating your toddler's creativity!

I'm trying to get those creative juices flowing early - not sure if I'm helping or deterring, but I certainly have fun! As I discovered in our art session this evening, she is not yet as enthusiastic about painting as her mommy, but we made it work. Most is hers, but I did my part to make sure the tape effect turned out as I had imagined. This project required: a 2-pack of 11x14 canvas tape (Andy used to do auto pinstriping so I chose a thickness from his stash) gesso crayola paints sponge…
