They have beautiful, unique bubbles and swirls in the glass, typical of genuine fishing floats. One of them has kanji marks. Another adorable 'sea urchin' with a clear strike 'Otaru T' in a circle. The mark dates from the 1920's, applied through WWII. The beautiful mark likely represents the Otaru Company, an earlier Japanese company of the Asahara lineage. It's a scripted 'se' from one of the Japanese alphabets, but referred to in the West as 'Otaru T'. (Thanks, Walt Pich!) What a gorgeous little float! By lightinawormhole
Called 'Beach Trio', this is a trio of simple working floats in all their natural majesty! The long float is a standard Hokkaido 'rolling pin', a favorite. The other two are 'kawaguchi' with light 'River Mouth' marks on their seals. The little yellow-gold with turquoise polyester net (1955-60) is likely the 'youngest' float, yet was 'fished' hard. Notice how the liveliness, vitality, and unstoppable charm still prevail! By lightinawormhole
This is little 'Goldilocks' and 'Otaru T', a pair of adorable accent character pieces for a dear friend's collection. Photos were taken in frigid, low, winter light. Goldilocks is brighter variated yellow/gold. Otaru T bears a mark dating from the 1920's. The 'extreme antique' has two cute 'dimples' on either side, almost like thumb prints. Too sweet for words!
