'Karl Foerster' - Feather Reed Grass(Calamagrostis x acutiflora ) 4-5' x 24" wide. *2001 Perennial Plant of the Year.* Drought tolerant and tolerating a wide range of garden soils. It has a wonderful upright growth habit, making it very useful to place behind perennials with a spreading or rounded shape. The feathery plumes emerge in early summer and ripen to handsome wheat-colored seed heads by fall. Combine w/ Russian Sage. In groups of three or five for best effect. Zones 5-9.
Fall color - 1. persicaria amplexicaulis ‘firetail’, 2. echinacea purpurea ‘rubinstern’, 3. sedum ‘autumn joy’, 4. phygelius X rectus ‘moonraker’, 5. euphorbia characias ssp. wulfenii
