Comment: At the middle grade stage, most children fall between concrete and formal operational stages. Piaget believed the child would have trouble with deductive logic at this stage. We have to understand that some students may be in the concrete operational stage through 8th grade. Role-playing and hands-on activities are important during this stage. Teaching Social Studies allows for such activities.
