"The pelvic tilt is a controlled movement of the pelvis using the lower back muscles and the abdominal. If the lower abdominal contract the pelvis will tilt backwards, (middle diagram)your lower back will round or flex or bend and your seat bones will tuck underneath you. When your lower back muscles contract the pelvis will tilt forwards (left diagram)and the lower back will arch. When the muscles are resting the pelvis will be in a neutral position (right diagram)

Pelvis tipped down (natural for women), pelvis tipped up with rounded back (not proper unless your riding a sliding stop), pelvis and back neutral.
