Petticoat [sottana] with sleeves, Italian (Pisa), c.1560. Museo di Palazzo Reale. "The petticoat is made up of bodice, skirt (falda) and detached sleeves. The latter are decorated with small vertical slashes. The arrangement of the embroidered bands is identical to that of Eleonora’s funeral dress, as indeed is the tailoring."
