In Australian Karraur Aboriginal mythology, Yhi is a Goddess of Light and Creation, and a Solar Deity. She lived in the Dream time and slept until a whistle awakened her. When she opened her eyes, light fell on the Earth. She walked the earth and plants grew where she walked. She decided that, in addition to plants, she wanted to make something that could dance. Eventually she created all life forms. She returned to her own world. Darkness fell, but then came the first sunrise and Yhi returned. MacMillan looked for geographical range in his artwork, venturing as far east as China where Nü Wa once explored the wild world on her own, eventually creating humans from the mud. Soon, disaster befell her world, and it was filled with flood, fire and wild beasts. She had to drive the beasts away and repair the earth, an effort that left her so exhausted, she laid down and became part of the earth itself. His design shows modern-day celebrations remembering her struggle. Artists, Collage, Posters, Creation Mythology, Creatures, Mythological Creatures, Artist, Creation Myth
