A woman's loose linen jacket (probably worn during pregnancy)  ca 1590-1630, English. Embroidered with silk, silver, and silver gilt threads in a circular vine motifs with flowers and fruit. The embroidery pattern is very similar to the famous extant Layton jacket (for which there is a 17th c. painting of Lady Layton wearing the actual garment) but this jacket made from a single layer of linen and there are no cuffs.
