How to join beams for a taller exterior wall. The joint must only be strong from 2 out of 4 general directions, since beams on the other walls protect from forces from the other 2 general directions. The joint itself is located on the 2nd floor, as high up as we can possibly make it. Only 2 bolts used to connect the planks (not 8 like in the picture), no matching grooves carved in the planks (unlike in picture), just 2 planks next to each other.
