This Easter start a tradition of making and decorating sugar eggs. These make great kids cooking projects and an Easter decoration to enjoy.

This recipe makes three six-inch eggs. Make two first, and then create a third from the sugar that remains after hollowing out the first two sugar eggs. The recipe for royal icing makes a generous amount; there's enough to practice piping with it before you get started.

EASTER SUGAR EGGS Instructions Below Making hollow sugar eggs is almost as much fun as giving them away! It's a fairly simple process that includes mixing granulated sugar with water and meringue powder (dried egg whites). Fresh egg whites can be used instead of Meringue powder, but I have not used that method.
