Katie Plunkett on Instagram: "HEY TEACHERS — this one’s for you. Are your students talking incessantly these days? Same old strategies not working anymore? I FEEL THAT. My students are a bunch of chatterboxes right now and I honestly get it. Summer is around the corner, we’re in the midst of testing season, and we’re ALL getting restless. However, we still have three weeks of school left and I’ve had to get creative to channel the chatter and foster focus in my classroom. These strategies have MAJORLY helped 👇🏼 👏 COPY MY CLAP Instead of raising your voice or saying “I’ll wait,” try clapping out a beat. Students will copy you. Gradually, more and more will join in. Ms. Natalie Ringold 🍎 Elementary Teacher on Instagram: "The reality is that our students are not coming to school with these social skills… so we have to teach them! I made this poster because I needed a resource that was… • realistic • concrete • explicit • easy to understand This lesson happened organically in the moment because there was so much bickering and arguing during our indoor recess. I pulled out the poster and used it to guide a lesson about how to react if someone is bothering you. After our talk, I noticed a HUGE improvement. We still have a long ways to go and need reminders every morning about this concept, but having this visual has been amazing! I also just made mini versions of the poster to send home with students, so they can teach their family members this Send Teaching Ideas, How To Handle Defiant Students, Reasons To Interrupt My Teaching, How To Stop Tattling In The Classroom, Teacher Hacks Elementary, Teacher Vs Student, Teacher Advice, Classroom Visuals, Relief Teacher
