River rocks

I collected these rocks in about two minutes yesterday, as I was walking along a favourite stretch of Lake Superior. This beach runs for a mile or more, and is littered with rocks of every colour and size. It is worth a visit, even though it is a little out of the way, just to see these colourful and interesting stones that have been smoothed and polished over the centuries by the waves.

Building rock tumblers is a project that can help children understand the geological process of the tumbling and smoothing of rocks in water bodies. A homemade rock tumbler is also a creative way of making polished rocks and stones for adornments. Read on to know how to build one at home.

This was my first time to Elgol, it is a fantastic place to visit and photograph. I was shooting with Anne Strickland so we kind of did a trip of the Skye hot spots, not what I would normaly do but it was fun when the light was good. Cheers Anne, very enjoyable trip. It was nice to meet you and hope to see you again sometime.
