Particles of matter

Explore the world of particles of matter and learn about their properties and behavior. Discover top ideas to deepen your understanding of the fundamental building blocks of the universe.
The goal of this activity is to develop and use a model to describe that matter is made of particles on a scale that is too small to be seen. You will be making observations of changes supported by a particle model of matter. This activity covers UT SEEd Strand 5.2.- All substances are composed of matter. Matter is made of particles that are too small to be seen but still exist and can be detected by other means. Solids, liquids and gases are three states of matter. In solids, the particles are tightly packed together. In liquids, the particles have more movement, while in gases, they are spread out. Particles in chemistry can be atoms, ions or molecules.
