Orazio Gentileschi's 'Abraham and Isaac'. When we ask ourselves "If it were me, what would I have done?" we can think back to the story of Abraham and Isaac. Abraham and Sarah waited their whole lives for a son, and then when they finally had one, God instructs Abraham to sacrifice him. This painting (and so many like it) illustrate that Abraham was really going to do it when an angel stops him. Was he fiercely loyal to God or blindly following orders he should have rejected?
