Crossroads Lacrosse on Instagram: "More solo defense drills 🌞 A lot of defenders requesting some love- this set is for @pipashley5 Solo session: 1) start at the crease, pop the ball up behind you, turn and track the ball, CLEAR IT! 2) same thing but add a roll back to clear imagining you had some attackers pressuring you 3) shuffles to ground balls- I do 3 in a row fast before I reset with a quick break 4) game like drill- start with crease defense, pretend she passed into the middle for a cutter. Crash to the cutter with your stick up, defend the ball carrier and cause a turnover. Then go get your ground ball!" I often see athletes relying on their arms to get power and miss out of the power in their legs and core. Pitchers shooting drill: 1) stand on a line or put a stick of cone down on the ground 2) righty shot- stand on your right foot facing the right 3) arms up and back with your stick in a straight line- no cradles! 4) fall onto your front foot with toes facing the cage to turn your hips 5) let your hips move first, then your shoulders rotate 180* around your planted front leg 6) get your whole body over the line- finish on your front leg only 7) your stick should be on the opposite side of your body to finish Repeat x lots!!! Coaches, this is a FANTASTIC drill to build confidence in Lacrosse Drills, The Cage, April 29, Build Confidence, First Then, A Stick, Whole Body, Confidence Building, Lacrosse
