To create a Cape Cod-style home, incorporate symmetry, an intimate size, a simple entrance, a pitched roof and a neutral paint color palette. Cape Cod homes also often use wood clapboard or shingle siding, and they value the direction and siting of the home (making sure to take advantage of the most sunlight). There is a sense of simplicity and a lack of extraneous details that are iconic of this style.
