A sense of fun and flair fill one young couple’s two-floor flat

We’ve loved seeing the more recent popularity of designs that are rooted in history—they feel charming, authentic, and timeless. When thinking about incorporating historic design choices in your own home, it’s important to pay attention to whether or not they fit the style and architecture of your home (if they don’t they might feel trendy or out of place rather than timeless and historic).

In this handsome West London house, designer Beata Heuman has launched her latest venture: a multifunctional space with offices and studios, room for her team to collaborate, and somewhere to showcase her prototypes and greatest hits.

The birch ply was stained yellow enhancing the natrual tones of the wood - it took 5 samples to find the perfect tone. We did a bold, chequered back-splash to counterbalance the softness of the cabinets. Rather than having top capinets we designed some open bobbin shelves. It's a place to put things without blocking any diffused light coming from above. We also desinged the stained dark green island which provides storage and extra surface space while still feeling light in the space.
