1930s furniture

This unusual round coffee table is made of varnished elm and was carved in Shanghai in an uncommon Art Deco style. The circular top is made of two elm planks and varnished with a warm red lacquer. The table is raised on four legs with delicate column insets, connected to one another with a cross stretcher adorned in its center with a medallion, perhaps placed there to receive a decorative item.
