If you're like me and feel that gentle pull to paint murals but are waiting to be "ready", just give it a try. Start where you are...and eventually you'll look up and realize you're a muralist 😊 Even if it takes a year or two, the time will pass anyways so you may as well keep working towards your goals. I *knoooow* it sounds cheesy...but it's true! 🧀

Building Mural Experience
The UNCOMFORTABLE and UNFORTUNATE truth about finding your first mural wall: most likely, no one is going to let you paint on their wall without any examples of mural work (not even for free 💸). This is a classic catch 22 for artists starting out with a new technique or skill: I need a [ job ] to get experience but I need experience to get [ job ]! 🤦🏻‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lucky for you, I’ve figured out some fabulous workarounds for ya! Like this big ass canvas I painted on for my livestream with Canceled Con!

Lauren Hom Painting the Lowes 100 Westland-themed Mural
To celebrate their centennial, Lowe's partnered with local artists to design and paint 100 murals to be showcased at 100 local Lowe’s stores representing the uniqueness of each community they serve. Inspired by the abundance of outdoor activities in Westland and its surrounding areas, we designed and painted this colorful mural to celebrate the community. The mural aims to highlight the city's parks, farmer's markets, and little moments of everyday delight.

Remixing a Classic with Lauren Hom
To announce the launch of White Claw Hard Seltzer REFRSHR Lemonade, a completely new take on classic lemonade, White Claw asked me to create content modernizing a classic through my artistic lens. Using bright colors from the cans, I painted over a piece of lettering in my classic style with a new illustration inspired by the unique flavors found in the lemonade variety pack.

Painting for design pals might be my new favorite thing?! Gave Meg Lewis' bedroom a chic black ceiling with little pops of color along the picture rail and I love what it did for the room.
