This lovely handmade Brigid Goddess corn dolly altar set is perfect for your Imbolc celebrations . She is made of natural wheat, oats, barley & raffia. As well as the Brighid Goddess doll, the set includes a handmade Jute St. Brigids Cross tied with fire red raffia. Traditionally a St Brigid's cross - or fire wheel as it is also known, would be hung above entrances to dwellings to invoke good fortune and health and to prevent fire in the home. It also includes a Swan feather (naturally…

Imbolc: Brighid's Day (#Imbolc). It interests me that the poem says it's midwinter, even though Imbolc is in Feb. and midwinter is generally another name for Yule. This is what happens when people mix calendars.

St. Brigid Doll

St. Brigid in her Spring Cloak. The greens represent the dark evergreen colors at the top, contrasted with the new bright growth of spring. Materials include: Willow branch, manzanita branches, pearly everlasting flowers, and dry chaparral grasses and flowers. Her head is stuffed with the lichen usnea. Techniques include: stuffing, tying, machine applique, and machine piecing. This is an interpretation of a traditional "corn dolly", using materials from the local chapparal ecosystem of the…

Imbolc Brigid's Cross Mini Broom/Besom Ornament/Charm/Decor

This lovely little broom/besom is 6 inches tall by about 5 inches at its widest point. It features a 2 inch Brigid's Cross handmade out of wheat by Etsy's own Vermorlian. This is the very last one I have - it was rescued from a candle that my husband (Yes, the grown-up and not one of my 4 young children!) set on fire. Below it hangs some Celtic knotwork and a beaded dangle made of Carnelian, Crab Fire Agate and Cherry Fire Quartz(glass). For more information on Imbolc and the goddess…
