Madame Grès (1903-1993), de son vrai nom Germaine Krebs, est connue et célébrée sous le nom d’Alix dès 1932. En 1942 elle fonde la maison Grès, anagramme du prénom de son époux Serge, en activité jusqu’en 1988. Soucieuse de marquer les esprits de ses contemporains en rappelant la mode qui l’a rendue célèbre dix ans plus tôt – les drapés à l’antique – Madame Grès fait évoluer cette technique en plissant son célèbre jersey de manière caractéristique: ce qu’on appelle aujourd’hui le pli Grès…
