Lars Hertervig (1830 - 1902)

Hertervig works with motives from the coastal landscape of Ryfylke district in West- Norway. His paintings are regarded as one of the peaks of Norwegian painting. He studied at the Arts of Academy of Dusseldorf, but had to return to Norway because of mental illness. He struggled financially and ended his days at the poorhouse.
