Gaddy's Covered Bridge, Pee Dee NWR, North Carolina
Ahhh but time flies. Earlier this year I happened upon a fledgling barred owl at this covered bridge/photo blind in the Pee Dee NWR. At that time, songs of prothonotary and hooded warblers filled the air. Today leaves are falling and the piercing calls of pileated woodpeckers, shafted flickers, and blue jays break the silence. I did see 3 wood ducks to the right of the bridge.

Sunday, June 14, 2009. I took Gabe to a friend's house in Silverton, Oregon today and I stopped to take a few shots of this covered bridge near one the parks. Silverton has another covered bridge that is big enough to drive through it; this one is for pedestrians only. It was very peaceful to walk through it and listen to the creek below it.
Humpback Covered Bridge
In southwestern Virginia is one of the few remaining covered bridges in the US that was built higher in the middle than on either end; hence the name of "humpback". The bridge was built in 1857 and is also the oldest remaining covered bridge in the state of Virginia. The bridge spans a tributary of the Jackson River and is 109 feet long. Located near the city of Covington, Virginia.
