Fifth graders painted a 9 x 12 paper in only the cool colors of green/blue/violets, and then painted a 12 x 18 paper in the hot colors of yellow/red/orange. When salt is sprinkled on the watercolor, it absorbs some of the paint, leaving a very cool effect which the students loved! We tore the cool colored painting which left a white edge on the paper to simulate the whitecaps of waves. Each student had to add something to their seascape to complete it.

wet on wet how to paint this painting video; would be cute with some salt sprinkled on for snow to hang behind the nature table in winter.

Verdens beste kokker er enige, dette brødet er i en klasse for seg selv. De gode nyhetene er at du ikke behøver å kna og elte. Neida, du blander bare sammen en ganske våt deig.

Blowing Trees: Paint the background first and let dry. Use a straw to blow brown paint around the paper to create the trunk and branches. Then use a Qtip to dot on random flower and leaf buds. Click link for more detailed instructions :)
