Fantastic Painted Concrete Floors and Finishes: Scored Concrete
A concrete basement floor gets new life with a stain treatment. Once old tile was removed, the old slab was smoothed with a diamond grinder. Then a quick-drying, turquoise acetone stain was sprayed on. An epoxy filler and top coat of clear urethane complete a process that costs about $5 per sq. ft. Imperfections and variations in the concrete add color gradations to the final finish.
Basement Ideas. The theme of this whole lower level is mainly to be an extension of our home and for it to not feel as if you are going into a dark basement below ground. One of the ways we counteracted the feeling of being below ground level, was by adding cabinet doors with frosted glass over our window well windows. A fluorescent light is behind each one, so that when they or on, there is light coming through day or night. It’s a really cool effect and it you never know what time it is…
Conversion of basement to walk out. We have a legit egress window, but the original family that built the house skimped and elected to save the 10k and not add walk out stairs... This is great for an existing egress window, and if anyone is looking to rent their basement out, this gives a separate entrance!
