Deep space image taken by the Hubble space telescope. Each speck of light is another galaxy, containing billions of stars. Hubble is now expected to function until at least 2014, when its scientific successor, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), is due to be launched.

The moon passed between Nasa's Deep Space Climate Observatory and the Earth, allowing the satellite to capture this rare image of the moon's far side in full sunlight. We normally don't see this side of the moon. As the moon is tidally locked to the earth and doesn't rotate, we only ever see the one face from the earth. Awesome shot!

Cassiopeia -- New Photo Reveals ‘Ghostly’ Green Nebula in Deep Space An amazing new photo from a telescope in Chile has captured the most detailed view yet of a green glowing blob 3,300 light-years away from Earth. Credit: ESO The new image, released today (April 10) by the European Southern Observatory

NASA 4) Butterfly Nebula (NGC 6302) Located in the constellation Scorpius, the structure of this nebula is one of the most fragile and complex that has ever been studied. The butterfly shape has lead scientists to name it's structure a "bipolar structure."

NGC 7714 ~ This unusual structure is a river of Sun-like stars that has been pulled deep into space by the gravitational tug of a by a passing galaxy, not seen in this Hubble Space Telescope photo. That's because the near-collision between the galaxies happened at least 100 million years ago.
