A great strategy to help a dyslexic child read is create a reading window out of cardboard that allows the child to only read one line at a time.  You can also use tinted cellophane paper to help cut down the drastic differences between the black and white print.

This is another great window reader. This type uses colored cellophane paper with a slit cut out in the middle. But also allows the reader to see all of the other text.
