Prometheus: Ficus watkinsiana, one of the numerous Ficus species collectively known as Strangler Figs. High atop the jungle canopy the small sticky seeds of Strangler Figs are deposited in bird dropping. Germination and rapid growth occur and in turn the Strangler Fig sends down its roots along the host tree’s trunks. In time a network of roots encase the host’s trunk which may or may not lead to its decline or death. .
