The carrier Kaga, this colourised photo showing her in her original three deck configuration before being rebuilt in 1934-35, with a full-length flight deck and conventional starboard side island. Kaga met her fate at the battle of Midway, June 1942, where the USN gained a measure of revenge for Pearl Harbour, sinking four of the six Japanese carriers involved in the "Day of Infamy" the four being Kaga, Akagi, Hiryu and Soryu.
