American, ca. 1815. Mixed woods with later decoration on a cream ground. 17" seat height, 33" overall height, 48 1/2"l. This settee was originally owned by Dr. Edward Tiffin (1766-1829), and descended in his family. When it was illustrated in Hageman, Ohio Furniture Makers, Volume 1 (p. 73), it was described as "still in the home of a descendant". The family then sold the settee at Garth's on November 24th, 1989.
