Beauchamp Mourner (Cecily Neville)Detail of the magnificent tomb chest that bears the effigy of Richard Beauchamp in the chapel he founded at St Mary's, Warwick. This figure is on the shorter west face of the tomb and represent's Cecily Neville who married Richard Beauchamp's son, Henry. Cecily's brother Richard Neville is shown on the south side of the tomb. c.1475-76.Ten weepers from the tomb of Isabella of Bourbon,Renier van Thienen (attrib.to),brass copper alloy,55×23×14 cm. Isabella of Bourbon,wife of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy died in 1465.Their daughter Mary built a funeral monument for her in the abbey of Saint Michael in Antwerp.The tomb was surrounded by 24 figures of mourning family members and ancestors,known as weepers (pleurants). They symbolized the importance of the Burgundy dynasty.These ten figures are all that remain.
