Taking pictures of deep space is hard, that is unless you happen to have a very sophisticated telescopic remote operated camera mounted on a spacecraft hurling through the outer reaches of the galaxy like the Hubble Telescope. Then it's pretty much just point and shoot. Even so, it makes for some of the best science photography of the year. By the way, the light shape in the lower left corner is the shell of a newly formed star. How cool is that?!?
