I initially started a 20g while running the blood pressure but when I saw the blood pressure was 💩 I started a liter of fluids in the 20 and then got an 18g in the other arm. I started the second bolus in the 18g after I started the bolus in the 20g and it still finished a significant amount of time before the 20g! Thankfully the fluids significantly helped and the blood pressure was stable following the fluids❤️"

Each of these positions opened up different levels of my pelvis. While most of them were instinctual, some I did because I could sense where my baby was and knew a certain position would help them navigate that space (I teach you that in the Built to Birth class!)

Basic rule of thumb when it comes to opening the levels of the pelvis: 

INLET OPENERS - wide legged positions / tucked pelvis / pelvis shifted in front of body 

MIDPELVIS OPENERS - asymmetrical positions / side to side movements

OUTLET OPENERS - narrow knee positions / untucked pelvis / backward-forward movements

So when are they 😴 vs 😬?

I came up with Persistent & Resistant after years of teaching fetal monitoring, only for cat 2 to still be clear as mud for a lot of folks. So before you ask: no, there’s no article to cite..it’s just my brain 🧠 😂 

The number 1 thing I see when it comes to lawsuits with cat 2 tracings is that they are Persistent AND Resistant 

That means you need to ask 2 questions: 
1) is this cat 2 pattern persistent? Has it lasted more than 30-60 minutes? Does it go back to Cat 1 or is it getting
