Learning to Teach: Ten Teacher Hacks That Make You Go..Duh!!
Gather your small group and show them pictures of items that have 1-3 syllables. I like to use the pictures from the Sorting Sounds book by Teach Bright but you could use any pictures. Next, introduce the caterpillar to your group and explain his purpose. Show the students a picture card, have them identify the picture, then ask them to tell you how many pieces to place on the caterpillar’s body as they listen to the syllables in the word.
