The fabric is of hand spun cotton and block printed in originally brownish black golden brown, red, rose and pale pink with pencilled details in blue. The print can be dated to the mid 18th century. It would have been used for clothing and was probably manufactured in Holland or England who had close mercantile connections to Norway (in the 18th century a Danish province).
