Rookwood Pottery: vase, about 1900

An American vase painted in colored slips under glaze was made by Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati, Ohio, in about 1900. It is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England.

Rookwood Pottery; Toohey (Sallie), Standard Glaze, Vase, Handled, Cherries, 6 inch.  Origin: Ohio.  Year: 1894.    A Rookwood pottery Standard Glaze [handled] vase decorated with cherries by Sallie Toohey in 1894. Impressed with the Rookwood logo, which discloses the date, shape 459 D and a W to indicate white clay and incised with the artist's monogram.
